Fiesta ST-1

Here is what the ST-1 specification included, showing the exterior features, the interior, the mechanicals and what options were available. Including revisions as time went by.

When the Fiesta Mk.7 ST was launched, there were only two trim levels available for the first year. The ST-1 was the lower level of trim and gave a basic package of options. The buyer still got the same engine and mechanicals, but the equipment and options list was more suited to those on a budget.

When the ST-3 came out, the ST-2 was still popular and became the new budget-level choice due to it's array of available options. The ST-1 still sold, but it greatly reduced numbers, although it was available throughout the whole production cycle.

Production of the Fiesta Mk.7 ST-1 started from January 2013 and ended in April 2017 - with a total of 1085 ST-1's being produced.

Pricing

As with any production cycle, the list price will gradually rise.

Here are the dates and amounts of those price rises.

Engine specification

All ST variants used the same engine and mechanicals, with only the level of trim differing between the variants.
The engine was the EcoBoost SCTi Sigma I4 which is a 4-cylinder, 1.6 litre with direct injection and a turbocharger.

Engine power was 182bhp (197bhp with overboost) which achieved 0-62mph in 6.9 seconds and reached a 139mph top speed.

Check out the specification page for more info.

Body Colour

Ford offered all of the body colours to all of the ST Variants.
(except the ST-200)

From the outside, you couldn't really tell the ST variants apart.
Race Red
(Solid body colour)

Price for colour option: £ 0
Frozen White
(Solid body colour)

Price for colour option: £ 250
Panther Black *
(Metallic body colour)

Price for colour option:  £ 495

*The name was changed to Shadow Black from March 2016 but stayed metallic.
Spirit Blue

Price for colour option:  £ 495
Molten Orange

Exterior lighting

The easiest way to tell the ST-1 from the rest was by the headlights*.
The ST-1 had Halogen projector headlights with Day Running Lights (DRL) like the ST-2 and ST-3, but the DRL’s were only with bulbs not LED's as found on the ST-2 and ST-3.
There was no option to upgrade to the LED type DRL's.
*Revision: From September 2015 the ST-1 now adopted the LED DRL type headlights.

Meaning all Fiesta Mk.7 ST variants came with the same headlights and more tricky to tell the ST-1 apart.
The rear lights were standard fitment across all ST variants, with bulbs used for all lighting applications.
Revision:  From September 2015 the entire Fiesta range adopted a new style rear light unit.

It still featured bulb fitments for most functions, but LED's were used to power the new style side-lights.

This was to coincide with the launch of the new Ford Mustang with it's famous 'fin' type rear light design which Ford designers adopted from the original 1960's Mustang.

Privacy Glass

Another easy way to spot an ST-1 was by the lack of privacy glass.

This was standard fitment on the ST-2 and ST-3 but it could be added as an option.
The ST-1 trim level did not include privacy glass.

This meant the rear window and rear side windows matched the door windows.
Option:  The option was available to add privacy glass to the ST-1.

The price for this option was £ 200.
Which then later rose in price to £ 225 in March 2016.

Meaning telling the ST-1 apart from the rest of the range again got tricky.
Many owners would add window tint themselves, but this was noticeable compared to the factory fitted privacy glass.

ST body styling

Ford advertised the Fiesta ST as having a Unique ST-design body styling kit and large rear spoiler.

This meant you got a unique ST style front bumper, side skirts, boot spoiler and ST style rear bumper.
The front bumper was unique to the Fiesta ST.

All ST variants used the same ST body styling kit.

This differed to others by its shape to accommodate the intercooler and had the only grille in the Fiesta range to wear a badge.
The rear bumper style was unique to the ST but it's component parts were common items.

The diffuser and coloured splitter were unique to the ST, but this was just an insert placed into a common bumper moulding used across the Fiesta range.

The corner lower pieces were common pieces and used also on the Zetec-S/ST-line models.
The side skirts added to the sporty look of the ST but again were a common item.

The side skirt design was still the one being used from the 2008 Fiesta Zetec-S, which was also used on the current Zetec-S/ST-Line models.
The large boot spoiler gave the ST it's unique look and finished off the body styling kit nicely.

It featured a brake light which is the same as the one used on the Focus of the same age.

But again it was the same item from the 2008 Zetec-S and current models.
As mentioned the ST had the only grille in the Fiesta range to wear a badge.

This was held on by adhesive, as was the rear badge on the bootlid.

While the grille badge was placed in a perfectly placed cut-out in the honeycomb grille.

The rear badge was aligned by a spacer at the factory when applied.

Door handles

Although the ST body styling kit made all the ST variants look the same, the ST-1 did have a distinctive body part.
The door handles on all ST variants were of the smooth design as standard from the factory.

This also included the visible door lock on the drivers door handle.
But, apart from the ST-1, you could upgrade to Keyless Entry as part of the Convenience Pack.

This pack then changed the door handle design to include a line and also a button. The button was used to lock/unlock the vehicle instead of the key fob.

This pack was never available for the ST-1 so it would feature smooth door handles for it's entire production cycle.

For more on what the ST-1 didn't have compared to what other variants did, see the section at the bottom of the page.

ST wheels

The ST range had it's own 'ST-style' alloy wheels.

These were 17 inches in diameter, by 7 inches wide.

For more information, head over to our specifications page for the Mk.7 ST.
All Fiesta Mk.7 ST variants came from the factory with silver coloured 17 inch alloy wheels.

These were not unique to the ST-1.
Option:  You could upgrade to the 'Style Pack' which included dark grey coloured alloy wheels.

Included in this pack were red brake callipers.

The price for this option was £ 250, but later increased to £ 275 in mid-2015.

For more on the Style Pack and it's contents, see the options section at the bottom of this page.

Exhaust

The exhaust on the ST was a mild steel construction and combined with the sound symposer, gave a nice sporty sound.
While sounding sporty is one thing, the exhaust has to also look sporty.

The ST has a unique dual chrome exhaust, which fits neatly under the rear diffuser in a designated cut out.

It really finishes off the sporty look and is the only Fiesta in the range to have a visible exhaust.

Seats

The seats on the ST-1 were unique and another easy way to tell it apart.
The ST-1 seats were only available in fabric cloth, no part-leather was offered, not even as an option.

The seat trim was called 'Airfield' and finished with Silverstone Grey inserts.

The seat bolster trim was Lux Soft in Charcoal Black with Generic Silver stitching.
This style was unique to the ST-1 for it's smooth finish. Unlike the 'Protection' style textured fabric seat trim found in the ST-2 & ST-3.
Heated seats were not included in the ST-1 trim package, another easy way to tell the ST-1 apart.

There was also no option available to have this added, and the lack of heated seat buttons made the centre console cubby-hole more accommodating.

Scuff plates
All ST variants came with the 'ST' scuff plates as found on the sill as you open the door.

If you didn't have the Style Pack fitted, these sill plates did not illuminate.

This is not a unique feature on the ST-1. You could have an ST-3 with no Style Pack therefore the sill plates would not illuminate.

Heater

The standard range heater set-up was fitted, with no option to upgrade.
This heater set-up was generic across the Fiesta range but did feature front and rear heated screen controls, plus air conditioning.

The centre stack bezel trim was finished in Charcoal Black.

Key

With the ST-1 having a manual key, it was a blessing in disguise and again a unique feature.
The ST-1 is again easily identifiable by the fact you can unlock the doors by the key fob, but have to insert a key into the ignition barrel to operate the car.

All other ST variants had keyless start, therefore not needing to insert a key at all. The ST's were released at a time when criminals targeted the vehicles with keyless start as they were easier to steal compared to a vehicle with a key-operated ignition.

Radio

Another unique ST-1 feature that made the ST-1 stand out.

The ST-1 did not feature the shiny black SONY unit as found in other ST variants, but it did get an update so it shared the same screen and graphics.
The unit was a Radio/CD with DAB with multi-functional matrix display, six speakers (four front and two rear), MP3-compatible, remote audio controls, Ford SYNC - includes Emergency Assistance, Bluetooth hands-free phone and Voice Control, USB, AUX and USB connection for external music devices, diversity antenna.
There was an option to upgrade to SD-navigation system with DAB, 5” TFT display for an extra £ 400.
In September 2015 the radio design changed but kept the matrix display for a short time.
The display screen was changed to the same one used on other ST variants.

It was now a 4.2" TFT screen, but the AUX connection on all ST variants was phased out.
The upgrade to the SD-navigation system now had a 5" TFT screen with it.

Standard features

As well as the features listed above, there were other ST-1 features listed in the brochure.

- Thatcham category 1 alarm
- Unique ST floor mats, front and rear
- ST suspension with 15mm lowered ride height
- Front and rear disc brakes
- Quickclear heated windscreen
- MyKey technology
- Scuff plates with ST logo (which did not illuminate)
- Dark woven headliner

Optional extras available

Style Pack
The Style Pack came in at £ 250 and included:

- The standard silver wheels changed to a dark grey colour.
- The brake callipers were changed from bare metal to painted red.
- The 'ST' scuff plates were now illuminating.

The price later increased to £ 275

Adjustable boot load floor
The adjustable boot load floor was an option to all the Fiesta ST variants.
It featured a split floor concept which could be removed and laid flat in the lower floor to make use of the whole boot space if needed.

This was available at a price of £ 75

Spare wheel
From the factory all ST models came with the Tyre Repair Kit. Which is basically a canister of foam and a pump.

Ford produced a 14-inch by 5.5-inch 'full size' spare wheel for the Fiesta range, but a 15-inch by 4-inch 'space-saver' was the only available spare wheel for the Fiesta ST.

This was an option at a price of £ 100.

Head rest
There was an option to add an extra head restraint to the centre of the rear seat. This was available to all seat types on all Fiesta ST variants.

The price for this option was £ 50.

Features not available to the ST-1
Some features, that were available to the other ST variants, were deliberately not available to the ST-1 to keep it a 'budget ST'. Here's a list of what was not available, either from the factory or as an optional extra upgrade.
Parking sensors

Part-leather seat trim

Heated seats

Seat trim colour other than Grey

Automatic headlights and wipers

Convenience pack (Keyless entry and power-foldable door mirrors)

Keyless start with Ford power start button

Cruise control

The EATC upgraded heater system

5-door body style

Reversing Camera
No factory fitted sensors were available, only dealer-fitted options.

Only cloth seats were available and exclusive to the ST-1.

No heated option was available on the cloth seats.

Grey was the only colour.

Due to the early bulb-DRL, this was not possible, even with the DRL upgrade, this was not added.

Again this was kept off the ST-1 to keep costs low.

Keeping the ST-1 unique with it's key ignition barrel.

Cost again kept cruise control from being added.

Keeping technology to a minimum, the basic heater was opted for.

5-door body style was only available in ST-2/3 variant.

This was available on all other models apart from the ST-1.
